A Typical Week
Providing the best possible atmosphere for learning and growing isn’t just about academic courses. Our senior pupils want a variety of stimulating and engaging activities inside or outside the classroom – and we are committed to meeting their needs.
Week Days at Bootham
Each day has a structure which mixes classroom study with breaks and leisure activities. And of course the school comes together for our traditional Morning Meeting before lessons begin.
Lessons finish at 4pm but the school day continues. After a break of half an hour, there is the formal Activities hour up to 5.30. Activities are organised throughout the week.
Activities continue after 5.30 and the degree to which your child will be involved is determined by whether they are Boarders or Day students.
Boarders all have supper together before preparing for the following day and taking part in optional activities.
Weekends at Bootham
At weekends the pattern of lessons and activities continues. Saturdays include a number of lessons before lunch (a popular occasion which parents may attend if they wish), games and free time, and an evening supper followed by more optional activities.
On Sundays more emphasis is placed on leisure activities. York is the ideal base for boarders and day pupils; all enjoy the chance to be part of this beautiful and historic city.
Plenty to do and plenty to think about; that’s a typical week at Bootham.
